FAQs
The Mother & Baby Partnership – Frequently Asked Questions
Is this service a replacement for NHS care?
No. Our service is designed to complement, not replace, your NHS maternity care. We recommend all clients remain registered with an NHS trust. We do not attend births or provide emergency services. Our private postnatal visits can replace NHS midwifery visits.
What happens if there’s a medical concern or emergency?
We are trained to recognise when care is outside of normal boundaries. If there are concerns, we will refer you to your NHS hospital. In an emergency, we will always advise you to go to hospital or call 999.
Where do you offer care?
We provide home-based care across South and Central London. If you’re unsure whether you’re in our catchment area, please enquire directly.
What if I cancel or need to reschedule?
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes. Missed appointments without notice are non-refundable. Full details are available in our Booking Policy.
Can I pay in instalments?
Full payment is usually required before care begins. For larger packages, we may be able to offer payment plans — please get in touch to discuss.
Is the Newborn Preparation session included in all packages?
It’s included in the Ultimate Postnatal Package. You can also book it as a standalone 1:1 session or a group session.
Do you offer overnight or emergency visits?
Not at this time. Our visits are scheduled in advance and available during daytime hours. If urgent care is needed, we refer to NHS services.
Can I choose my midwife?
We aim to offer continuity of care with one or two familiar midwives. While we can't guarantee a specific midwife for every visit, we do our best to ensure consistency.
What qualifications do your midwives hold?
All our midwives are NMC-registered professionals, hold enhanced DBS checks, and are experienced in both antenatal and postnatal care. They are also required to hold private indemnity insurance.
